Samer Tawk is a Lebanese Olympic cross-country skier, coach and speaker who has turned an extraordinary comeback into his life's purpose. At just 20 years old, he made history as the first Lebanese athlete to qualify for the Winter Olympics in cross-country skiing, competing at PyeongChang 2018 and opening a new chapter for Lebanon in winter sport.

In May 2019, a 14-metre fall while skiing in Lebanon nearly ended everything. Samer spent nine days in intensive care with his hips fractured in four places, internal bleeding, a broken elbow and hand, and nerve damage that left his left leg partially paralyzed. Doctors warned full recovery was nearly impossible — but after nine operations and years of relentless rehabilitation, he refused to let that day define the end of his journey.

Seven years later, Samer returned to the Olympic start line at Milano Cortina 2026, carrying Lebanon's flag at the opening ceremony and completing the men's 10km race. Born and raised among the mountains of Bsharri, where he first skied at age six, he carries the resilience of his hometown and the pride of Lebanon into every kilometre — proving that the strongest finish lines often begin with the hardest comeback.
